Send us your match report

Posted by SCRRS Web on January 27th, 2010

During the season, referees encounter wide varieties of situations and experiences that provide an interesting quick read as well as advice and education for other referees.

Whether the match was Good, Bad, or Ugly, email us your match report, and we’ll post it on the website for everyone to read and learn.

Elements of a good match report

  • Provide information that is important to the reader. Was the weather a factor? If not, don’t bother with a long description of the conditions – get to the important stuff: tackling, breakdown, scrum, line-out, offsides.
  • Keep all comments to the facts and details. The goal of the match reports is to educate fellow referees, not mud slinging. As referees, we want to know why, for example, the breakdown was difficult to manage because arriving players ignored warnings to stay on their feet … etc.
  • Give us the score – at least! If you have any other details, pass them along too. Number of tries, how many kicks at goal, or other numbers that shape a good match report.
  • Keep it brief! Short is good.
