Video Example – Moving on the ground
Posted by RefsFromChair on July 5th, 2011A video example of a player moving on the ground after being tackled. In this case, the Crusaders Tom Marshall continued to propel himself along the ground by his knees after being tackled. Referee Craig Joubert immediately called a penalty – “You’re propelling yourself with your knees after the tackle. Release it (the ball).”
Video Example – Rolling Maul
Posted by RefsFromChair on May 15th, 2011The following video demonstrates a perfect rolling maul. If the maul has been formed and remains the same maul in a forward direction, and the defenders shear off, than the maul is fully entitled to continue the same maul in a forward direction even if it does appears to be a truck-and-trailer situation. Very high skill level from the forward pack.
Six Nations Referee Replacement Mid-Game
Posted by RefsFromChair on March 14th, 2011“the protocol for such a replacement is well understood and the switch performed flawlessly”
Referee Roman Poite had been replaced because of a calf injury by assistant referee Jérôme Garces to complete the match. This is the first time a referee has been replaced in the middle of a Six Nations International.
Video Example: Line-Out Position Correctly Marked
Posted by RefsFromChair on March 10th, 2011New Zealand assistant referee Garratt Williamson is right on the mark with a correct line-out position call in the first half of the Chiefs verses Rebels match. Another good video example coming from the third round of the 2011 Super 15 Rugby season.
