Request a Rugby Referee Course
Every course is setup through the USA Rugby administration, with the local referees society providing the educators.
Every student must register through the USA Rugby website for a course, and student must already be registered with USA Rugby in order to register for a match official course.
Summer courses are held for Level 1 Referee (all day course), and Level 2 Referee (two day course).
During the Southern California rugby season (Dec – April) match official courses can be offered on Sunday depending on the availability of trained IRB educators.
Hosting any match official course is the responsibility of the local requesting club or individuals. All costs involved are locally managed. Most often the classroom reservation is donated, and referee educators volunteer their travel and are not paid.
Classroom must have a projector and screen, and speakers. The classroom must also have access to a large grass area for outside practical examples.
All students must register at least 48 hours in advance of the course. Walk-ups are not recommended, and will be an additional $25 fee.
Class materials must be ordered two weeks in advance.
The course must be confirmed and ready to accept online registration four weeks in advance of the date of the course. Online registration is managed through USA Rugby.
