Commentators Wanted for D1A Matches

Posted by Sigrid Valk-Feeney on January 25th, 2017

Hello to everyone. The Society has been asked if there is any interest out there to help provide commentary during live broadcast matches of some DIA matches within our region. I think this is a great opportunity to help educate the populous on the laws of the game while expressing your inner Dallen/Vin Scully. These activities are strictly volunteer so no reimbursement will be provided.

Below is a list of dates and locations of matches. If any of you (I encourage coaches as well since most referees will be occupied at most of the proposed kick-off times) are interested in doing some commentary, please respond directly back to me via email so I can tally the folks and relay back to D1A in a single response document. If by chance two folks ask for the same match, the first person who contacts me will be given priority.

Sat, 1/28/2017 – 1:00 PM, SDSU vs BYU
Sat, 2/18/2017 – 1:00 PM, SDSU vs Arizona
Sat, 2/25/2017 – 1:00 PM, at Cal Poly vs St. Mary’s
Sat, 3/11/2017 – 1:00 PM, SDSU vs Santa Clara
Thur, 3/16/2017 – 7:00 PM, SDSU vs Army
Sat, 4/8/2017 – 1:00 PM, at Cal Poly vs SDSU

Upon confirmation, I will put you in direct contact with the DIA POC and you can make all the arrangements from that point. Thank you all. Phil

Referee Advice

Always choose your words carefully or use hand signals (a finger over the lips lets people know to shut it!). Don’t argue with a coach or player. Don’t obviously threaten a coach or player (don’t point at them); this will only put them on the defensive.
