If you want to referee for SCRRS, renew today!

Posted by ncsmeda on August 29th, 2014

On August 31, 2014, your annual membership (formerly known as CIPP) with USA Rugby will expire.  To be eligible to officiate in any form of rugby event sanctioned by USA Rugby, you will need to renew your membership.

Previously the EC were afforded the luxury of renewing everyone collectively each year.  However, USA Rugby has changed the procedure and we are now required to individually register with USA Rugby.  The primary reason behind this is because of the new requirement that all referees/coaches/administrators pass a background screening.

If you were registered with USA Rugby over the past 12 months, you would have received an e-mail from membership@usarugby.org with a unique UserID and instructions on how to complete the renewal process.  If you did not receive such notification, you can go here  https://usarugby.zendesk.com/entries/25297513-How-do-I-register-as-a-member-of-USA-Rugby- for instructions.

Please note that your registration has NOT been renewed until USA Rugby sends you confirmation that you have cleared the background screening.  Until then you will not be eligible to officiate in any USA Rugby sanctioned events which are assigned by SCRRS.  Therefore those who are signed up to referee in San Luis Obispo on September 6th, “get ‘er done”.

Once you have received confirmation that you have cleared the background screening and thus registered with USA Rugby, please forward the confirmation to secretary@scrrs.net as a master roster is being maintained of all referees who are fully registered and eligible for assignments.

Additionally, if you referee for SCRRS this coming year, you will be reimbursed for renewing your membership once you meet the following requirements:

  • Send us your confirmation that you have cleared the background and fully registered with USAR
  • Referee THREE assigned matches by SCRRS

Finally, in order for you to be eligible to be covered under our insurance through National Association of Sports Officials (NASO), the deadline for registering with USA Rugby is October 10th, 2014 (10-10, easy to remember).
