Touch Judging - is a great way to enter into officiating. It is the first level of officiating and is very simple to complete certification process. There is a nominal fee ($35) for attending a workshop of which, once "certified" you will be able to run touch for any SCRRS assigned match and eligible for reimbursement. In addition, you will learn the basics of refereeing.
Refereeing - is the second level of officiating. The training for refereeing requires some prerequisite education/exam and attending a more formal Referee L1 Course. This is a bit more expensive involves additional USAR Membership Registration. The L1 course fee is ($75) and registration with SCRRS ($35). You will be assigned a Mentor/Coach to support you and assist you through the development process.
Referee Grades - Referee development and grading is essential to the quality of officiating. Y2-Y1 are entry level grades and eligible for lower level youth matches with support (mentor/coach). D, C3-C1, B are grades for adult level matches (Men, Women, Collegiate, etc.). Additional courses, training, fitness testing and travel are required.
